My friend found out this week that he has cancer. He's 38 years old. According to the wizards at Sloan-Kettering, it's a slow-moving cancer that he may have had for more than 20 years. But of course, they don't know for sure. They might be able to operate and remove part of it, but not all. He'll require radiation treatment and possibly chemo if they can't cut enough of it out. They might not be able to cut any of it out because it has surrounded his pelvic aorta

I don't know the details, but it's some kind of pelvic parasympathetic ganglion tumor and it might be responsible for the high-blood pressure he's had since age 16.

I've been in a crappy mood since I found out. Of course, I've been in a pretty crappy mood for year, so it's hard to tell when I'm in a crappy mood. I saw Tommy this weekend and I could tell how nervous he was. He does an online radio show and when he's on the air he is a great entertainer. I don't know how he is continuing to pull it together and go on the air twice a week while dealing with this.
